Raleigh, North Carolina … what a wonderful place to call home! And the word has gotten out! In Money Magazine’s 2006 Best Big Cities Poll, Raleigh ranked #4 for the whole county! Of course the residents here don’t need a Magazine to tell them about the high quality and lovely surroundings.
So why does Raleigh rank so high? Why are people moving here in droves? Well if you mix Raleigh’s growing job market, it’s superlative schools, a mild climate and sprinkle on some southern hospitality, your getting close to Raleigh’s secret recipe. Is it any wonder that Wake County is in the top 10 fastest growing counties in the entire United States?
What are the downsides here? Well, road construction is going on all the time. In fact, residents joke that the traffic cone should be on our state flag. And the schools have been a little overwhelmed with the rapidly increasing population. A move is underfoot to convert many of the public schools to year-round schedules, and many schools have erected trailers to add extra classroom space. And be fore warned, if you stay here too long you’ll become hopelessly addicted to Bojangles' chicken 'n biscuits, our southern sweet tea and cheering fanatically for our college basketball teams … don’t say I didn’t warn you!
